Port Orford · Est. 1947
For generations, the Port Orford Fire Department has stood between our community and catastrophe — from wildfire season on the ridges above town to structure fires on 19th Street. We don't just respond to emergencies. We prevent them, prepare for them, and walk our neighbors home.
What We Do
From structure fires to medical calls, wildland interfaces to community education — our team is trained, equipped, and ready around the clock.
Structure fires, vehicle fires, and wildland-urban interface incidents are met with rapid deployment and coordinated attack strategies tailored to the unique coastal terrain of Port Orford.
First-response medical care on scene while ambulances are en route. Our firefighters carry advanced first-responder certifications and work alongside paramedic services across Curry County.
Coastal Oregon demands vigilance. We conduct defensible-space inspections, issue burn permits, run seasonal public alerts, and coordinate with state forestry crews before the dry season peaks.
Transportation incidents along Highway 101 and storage concerns at local businesses are handled with specialized hazmat-trained crews and interagency mutual-aid agreements.
Fire safety workshops at schools, station tours for youth groups, smoke-alarm installation days, and annual fire-prevention month events keep Port Orford informed and prepared.
Pre-purchase home inspections, new-construction fire-code reviews, and commercial occupancy surveys help builders and homeowners stay compliant before problems arise.
About RFPD
Port Orford has always been a town that looks out for itself — fishing families, seasonal visitors, and the rugged coastline that defines it. The fire department grew out of that same spirit. What began as a volunteer hose company has matured into a professional operation that still answers to the people it serves.
Our station at 552 19th Street is more than a building. It's a deployment hub, a training room, and a front door for anyone who needs us. Every shift, every call, every community event is an opportunity to live up to the trust placed in us.
